Gallery | El Socorro School, Costa Rica (2008)
In 2008 a set of Spanish Language Books, as well as textbooks for learning English, were purchased for a school in the small coffee community of San Ramon in the Western Valley of Costa Rica. At a Coffee Show in 2007, Luis Campos, the manager, who spoke no English, expressed great interest to Deb Crowther and me for the community's desire to learn English, and education in general. With just a small amount of money we were able to bring this opportunity to all the children and parents at the school, El Socorro. They are a close-knit community that works together to keep the school at its best. Parents take turns doing maintenance and gardening, and even cleaning the school, on the weekends. The school serves approximately 100 students, grades 1 through 6, with an annual budget of less than $500. If you'd like your donation to help this community in particular, please make a note.
